Atlassian Intelligence, Rovo and more – let’s see what’s new on Atlassian Cloud
Atlassian envisions its cloud solution as a collaboration platform that, in addition to software development and customer support solutions, would support all departments and processes across an organization.
With generative AI-powered tools like Atlassian Intelligence, Rovo, and Loom, teams can manage projects more efficiently and exchange information more seamlessly.
Let's take a closer look at how AI-based innovations enhance Atlassian's cloud landscape.
Atlassian Intelligence
In 2023, Atlassian launched Atlassian Intelligence. Built on both Atlassian’s internal expertise and OpenAI's advanced technology, it’s designed to enhance productivity by delivering organization-specific insights while prioritizing your privacy.
Atlassian Intelligence works seamlessly with products such as Jira, Jira Service Management, Jira Product Discovery, Confluence, Trello, and Bitbucket and it is available and automatically activated for all products on Premium and Enterprise plans.
How do I benefit from Atlassian Intelligence?
Today, there’s already 30+ new AI features available across Cloud products. Let’s take a closer look!
In Jira: search for issues using everyday language, summarize information, improve writing and change tone, create automation rules using natural language.
Summarizing information from Jira tickets saves time by providing concise summaries of lengthy issue descriptions and project updates allowing teams to grasp essential points quickly without reading through extensive details.
💡 Did you know that you can also create summaries of issue comments? No more endless scrolling!
Additionally, you can generate a list of recommended child issues based on parent issue details, and condense Smart Links from sources like Confluence, Jira, and Google Docs for easier reference.

In Confluence: use Atlassian Intelligence in Confluence to draft and edit content, improve writing, and change tone. Generate a summary or action items from a page, summarize pages, page comments, and blogs.
Atlassian Intelligence offers concise summaries, allowing you to grasp key points quickly without reading every detail. This feature is particularly valuable for project managers and team leads who need to stay updated without wading through lengthy documentation.
In Jira Service Management: respond to customers by summarizing knowledge base content using the virtual agent.
The virtual agent can use generative artificial intelligence to search across your linked knowledge base spaces, summarize that information to answer customer questions, and remember context for follow-up questions. It can also walk customers through controlled, turn-by-turn conversation flows that can gather information, route them to the right request types, and take actions
Depending on how the virtual service agent is configured, their query is answered using Atlassian Intelligence answers or matched to an intent: If an Atlassian Intelligence answer is provided, the customer is asked if the answer resolved their problem.
If the customer indicates that they still need help, the virtual service agent asks them to rephrase their question, or offers to create an issue for a human agent to resolve.
If an intent is matched, the virtual service agent walks that customer through the intent's conversation flow. If required by the conversation flow, an issue is automatically created for a human agent to resolve.
Atlassian Rovo
Rovo is a new paid Atlassian Intelligence stand-alone product that acts as your AI teammate. Rovo introduces multiple and powerful AI-driven features, such as enterprise search, chat and agents. Let’s check them out.
Find your data quickly across all SaaS tools without switching tools
Rovo enables enterprise-wide search across your organization - not limited to just Jira and Confluence users but by connecting data from all the SaaS tools you rely on daily.
Rovo Search Connectors help you find the information you’re looking for, whether it’s from across your Atlassian products, files stashed in your Google Drive, Microsoft documents, Slack, Teams, and beyond.
Include your industry-specific and custom-built apps as well as Rovo’s API will be designed to integrate niche and internally developed applications.
Do you have some data on Atlassian Data Center platform? No worries, because Data Center customers can experience the magic of Rovo with the Data Center connectors.
Starting with Confluence, Data Center connectors will become available in 2025.
So, can anyone have access to everything?
No! Search results are personalized. Permissions are strictly enforced, ensuring employees only see the information they are authorized to access. Administrators maintain complete control over the activation of search connectors and data access.
Interactive chat, knowledge cards, and contextual definitions
You can use Rovo for interactive conversations or to get instant, up-to-date insights with knowledge cards.
Rovo Chat allows teams to ask questions until they find the answers they need, brainstorm new ideas, receive valuable feedback, and solve problems as they work. The chat is driven by your company’s data, enabling you to have interactive conversations to learn and gather insights without needing to switch between different tools or search for information.
Knowledge cards are compact, interactive information panels designed to provide you with quick insights and connections related to your search queries or highlighted terms.
Are you struggling to decode endless acronyms and abbreviations? Rovo's contextual definitions are cards that help you understand unfamiliar terms and acronyms quickly, without leaving where you are.
When you come across a company-specific term, abbreviation, or acronym, or a project you've never heard of, Rovo can provide a concise definition, saving you from lengthy searches. Better yet, you can view these AI-powered definitions in context as you come across them, helping you learn quickly and then move on.

What about security?
Atlassian Intelligence honors any permissions set up in your products. This means that users will not be able to create or generate content based on resources they do not have access to. Similarly, Rovo Agents respect permissions and will only show and act on information that the current user has access to.
How do Atlassian Intelligence and Rovo work and how do they use my data?
Atlassian Intelligence and Rovo combine open-source, self-hosted models, and 3rd party hosted models. These LLM providers will not store customer inputs and outputs nor will they use this data to train their services. For further details refer to Atlassian Trust.
Loom - async video messaging for instant, shareable communication
Loom is an asynchronous (async) video messaging tool that enables users to communicate using instantly shareable videos. Loom includes features like:
- Screen and camera recording.
- Trim and stitch video clips.
- Transcriptions and closed captions.
- Custom background.
- Easy sharing and embedding.
- Download and upload.
- Video privacy controls.
- Video and viewer insights.
Using Loom for video messages lets you get creative, with plenty of possibilities at your fingertips. Video messages are especially valuable for quickly sharing information when it’s hard to find a suitable time for a meeting.
Imagine a scenario where a colleague asks for help setting up a Jira component, and you recall that another colleague once asked for similar guidance. With a packed schedule, you realize that a video message is the fastest way to share instructions.
💡 Need a written document alongside the video guide? Loom can transcribe and document it for you - even in Estonian.
Loom not only records videos but also enables transcriptions and documenting, making it especially convenient for creating tutorials and training materials. Video supports visual learning, but having both a video tutorial and written documentation ensures the best information-sharing and learning experience within your company.
We tested Loom in Estonian—while the transcription wasn’t perfect, the quality was surprisingly good.
Illustration 5. On the left side, you can see the result of a Loom video transcription, and on the right, a preview of the automatically generated documentation.
Both the transcription and the default documentation generated by Loom are fully editable. If a certain word is incorrect in the transcription and appears multiple times, you can apply a change across the entire text with a single click. Loom also supports creating Jira tickets directly from videos.
💡 Let’s imagine a scenario where a tester encounters unexpected behavior in the system that needs to be reported to the developer in detail.
The tester can record a video, sharing their screen and explaining the issue. Using the "Create an Issue" module, Loom generates a description for the ticket based on the transcription, and a Jira ticket - with a detailed description and a link to the video - is just one click away.
Videos created in Loom can be saved or shared via a direct link. Loom is available on both monthly and annual subscriptions, with pricing based on various plans.
